Overview
A proven goalkeeper in both the collegiate and professional ranks, Kennedy was selected by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft prior to the Red-and-White's first season in 2005 after a stellar career at UC Santa Barbara. The goalkeeper opted to play professionally in Puerto Rico and Chile before returning to the Red-and-White before the 2008 season.
MLS Experience
2008: In his first year in MLS, Kennedy played nine matches (starting eight) after the departure of Brad Guzan. He gave up just eight goals in 699 minutes of action, earning three shutouts, a goals against average of 1.03, and compiling a total of 22 saves.
Other Pro Experience
Kennedy joins Chivas USA from Chile's Municipal Iquique, where he spent the 2007 season and led the Chilean Second Division in goals against average. Prior to his time in South America, Kennedy was with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the United Soccer Leagues First Division for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In 2005, he was named First Division Rookie of the Year after posting a 10-10-8 record for the team while playing every minute of the season. Kennedy's 114 saves that season put him in second place in the league, 10 behind ex-Chivas USA goalkeeper Preston Burpo, then playing for the Seattle Sounders.
College
Kennedy was a standout at UCSB, where in four seasons (2001-2004) he started all 84 games of his college career, leading the Gauchos to their first three postseason appearances in school history (2002-2004) and to the 2004 NCAA Final, where UCSB fell to the University of Indiana on penalty kicks at The Home Depot Center. Kennedy was on the All-Big West conference teams each of his four seasons, earning Big West Goalkeeper of the Year honors in his last three seasons, and was named an All-American by College Soccer News during his senior year.

Kennedy played alongside former Chivas USA striker Matt Taylor with the Irvine Strikers and Orange County Blue Stars before entering college at Santa Barbara.
