Overview
A versatile midfielder, Jorge Flores joined the Chivas USA U-19 Team in March 2007 after he was officially named the winner of 'Sueño MLS: Chivas USA Wants You!', a nationally televised open tryout held by Chivas USA and Major League Soccer. A native of Anaheim, Calif., Flores spent his childhood in Pénjamo, Guanajuato, before returning as a teenager to Southern California. He joined the Chivas USA senior team on July 25, 2007, and made his debut on Sept. 9, and in 2008, he scored three goals in 11 appearances for Chivas USA during his second season as a pro.Flores has also been a mainstay on the United States Under-20 National Team, making more appearances with the team than any other player in 2008, and being called in to many camps and tours with the squad in 2009. Flores, who plays both left back and at left midfield with the team, helped the U.S. qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, and will play in the tournament in Sept. and Oct. of 2009.
MLS Experience
2008: Played in a total of 11 games (starting six) and scoring three goals. All three of his goals came in consecutive matches, notching first against D.C. United on May 17, then the game-winner a week later at the Colorado Rapids, and finally with a volley against Columbus on May 31.2007: Made his MLS debut on Sept. 9, 2007 against the New York Red Bulls, playing the final 14 minutes of a 3-0 win.
International
Flores first joined up with the United States U-20 National Team late in November and December of 2007 for a training camp in Argentina, where he notched an assist against the River Plate reserves and a goal against the Argentina U-20s. He made the most appearances for the U-20's of any player in 2008, playing in several international tournaments, including the Copa Chivas (Mexico), the Campos Verdes International Tournament (Portugal), and the Milk Cup (Northern Ireland). In 2009, Flores first helped the U-20's qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and has been named in the squad for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which takes place in Sept. and Oct. in Egypt.
Youth Teams
Flores was a standout and team MVP at Anaheim High School and with Santa Ana DSP Juventus of the Coast Soccer League, winning the Harvest Cup and California Cup in 2006.
Acquired
Signed by Chivas USA to a developmental contract on July 25, 2007
