CARSON, Calif. -- Chivas USA of Major League Soccer today announced that it has hired Brandon Raphael as its new Director of Sales. Raphael, who joins the Los Angeles-based MLS club from Mandalay Sports Entertainment, owner and operator of some of most successful minor league baseball franchises in the United States, assumes his new position immediately, as Chivas USA prepares for its fourth MLS season starting in April 2008.

"We are proud to welcome Brandon Raphael to the Chivas USA family," said Chivas USA President and CEO Shawn Hunter. "Brandon has a proven track record in a competitive ticket sales environment such as minor league baseball. We look forward his contributions as we prepare for Chivas USA's 2008 season, which promises to be our best yet."

Raphael, 31, joins Chivas USA from Mandalay Sports Entertainment, one of the premier sports companies in the United States, where as National Sales Manager and Recruiter, he oversaw the training of salespersons for three of Mandalay's seven owned or operated minor league baseball franchises: the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers that ranks annually among attendance leaders in all of minor league baseball, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and Staten Island Yankees, the Triple-A and Single-A affiliates, respectively, of the New York Yankees. Raphael also oversaw recruitment for all seven minor league baseball franchises in Mandalay's portfolio, ranging from New York to Nevada, which also includes the Dayton Dragons, the Single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds that has sold out every game in the team's history, and the Las Vegas 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Chivas USA, Major League Soccer's Mexican-owned, Los Angeles-based club, is preparing for its fourth MLS season starting in April 2008, looking to improve on its historic 2007 campaign. Led by MLS Coach of the Year Preki, Chivas USA finished first in MLS's Western Conference in 2007, with a 15-7-8 record (W-L-T), while winning its four-game Honda Super Clásico series against intracity rival LA Galaxy and qualifying for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row.
